HOW IT ALL STARTED
We get it. A ceramic rocket ship for cooking meat isn’t exactly everyday gear.
So here’s the story behind how FYR REPUBLIC came to life
— and why this thing is taking over Aussie backyards one fire at a time.
It all started when I watched a video from chef Joshua Weissman ranking 34+ ways to cook a steak.
The winner? A Tandoor.
My first thought? What the hell is a tandoor? Isn’t that some clay pot they use in Pakistan or India?
Do we even have those in Australia?
As it turns out - not really
You’ll find the odd steel version in Indian restaurants, or the rare traditional clay model.
But none of them quite fit the mould of what I was chasing — a modern take on an ancient, flame-fuelled cooking device that could crush tomahawks, lamb legs, skewers and more, right here in the Aussie backyard.
So I went deep — sourcing the best damn ceramic tandoor I could find



...because the last thing I want to do is flog off something that doesn’t perform. Once it passed the test, I knew it had to be shared.
Then I spent months testing, tweaking, and making sure it met my own standards...
